Founder of Scientific Analog Receives the Prestigious Doyeon-Changjo Award

Professor Jaeha Kim, CEO and Founder of Scientific Analog and faculty member at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University (SNU), received the Doyeon-Changjo Award in recognition of his outstanding research achievements in analog design automation and verification, as well as his contributions to the semiconductor industry through entrepreneurship. The award ceremony was held on October 29, 2025, during the 37th anniversary celebration of the Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC) at Seoul National University.

Established through an endowment from Emeritus Professor Jong Duk Lee, one of the pioneering figures in Korea’s semiconductor industry, the Doyeon-Changjo Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the semiconductor field through creative and innovative research accomplishments.

Professor Kim’s work has focused on bridging the long-standing gap between analog and digital design methodologies, aiming to integrate the two domains to overcome inefficiencies and inconsistencies in modern integrated circuit design.

In 2015, he founded Scientific Analog, Inc., which developed XMODEL — a simulation engine that enables analog circuit modeling and simulation within the SystemVerilog digital simulator. Today, XMODEL is widely used not only by leading Korean semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, but also by major international firms including AMD and Applied Materials, demonstrating its global industrial impact.

Professor Kim received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He has been a faculty member at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of SNU since 2010 and continues to lead both academic and industrial innovation through Scientific Analog.
